7% unemployment in itself is not the end of the world but it is the direction and rate of change that is worrisome. No doubt. Taking steps now to prevent unemployment going into free fall seems like a good idea. Ditto. It goes without saying, or I would have thought so. This discussion reminds me of Obama's comment that Washingtonians are snow wimps. Much protest re what is so obviously a true statement, at least to someone who was raised in NJ more than a few decades ago. You'd have to be very spoiled to think that walking on an occasional length of unshoveled sidewalk is too much to bear.
