It's the classic "Frog in a pot of water" story.

If you put a frog in a pot of hot water, he jumps out immediately and is saved.

Put him in a pot of cold water and set it on the stove, the frog goes for the bottom. As he gets warmer he thinks a little bit more won't hurt.

Then he is dead.

Whether Obama was born on American soil does seem to be a dead issue like the frog, as LindyBill suggests. I've given up fighting the issue, and I don't know that it's worth anybody's effort now.

I do find it peculiar that he has failed to produce the simplest of proofs, that he could drown the issue forever by releasing a genuine birth certificate.

It seems so easy and profound, it's a wonder he did not do it on day one.

How does he even get a passport without one?

Primary Evidence of U.S. Citizenship (One of the following):

Previously issued, undamaged U.S. Passport
Certified birth certificate issued by the city, county or state*

Naturalization Certificate
Certificate of Citizenship

It is better to remain silent and be thought not a natural citizen than to provide one's Certificate of Live Birth and remove all doubt.
