i will be disappointed. but there seems to be a general consensus that some regulation needs to be put in place. i am not for regulating bonuses except when companies are getting bailout money. the merrill lynch case may be egregious asset stripping and could end up in court.
but i am most concerned about the regulation of derivatives and hedge funds. geithner is supposed to be very knowledgeable about these, and i am eagerly awaiting his proposals. i am particularly interested in what he intends to do about the outstanding derivatives. if there are $500 trillion in positions, we want them to be settled without armageddon.
