Tim;

With a vision we could spend 800, er 900, er 1,000 billion dollars on infrastructure. But there is no clear vision. Instead of a clear vision we end up with hodge podge of spending just for the sake of spending. If I had been Obama, I would have framed it as a vision thing. Like going to the moon - perhaps energy independence in 20 years or whatever. New rail lines for rapid transit could gobble up about as much money as you want to spend - AND put people to work AND make America more efficient in global economy AND end shoveling money to our enemies in ME.
