>> What does "brought it down" mean exactly?

What it means is that liberal spending programs instigated under FDR and LBJ currently threaten the economic viability of the nation and if not brought under control, somehow, will destroy us economically.

I'm referring to SS and Medicare, as well as unemployment compensation that is not self-funded, state Medicaids as well as other liberal spending like what this bill is full of.

We're not talking about "a trillion" here. We're talking TENS of trillions.

Add to that the unions created under FDR and the country is one big train wreck and it is liberal economic policy that has done it. I don't like a lot of the spending Bush did, but the reality is that it is both immaterial in amount and transitory in the application. The liberal programs continue to suck the blood of the country until it is totally dry.

What other country with a far longer history of social responsibility has been "brought down"?

Soviet Russia.

Survival of the fittest is what inode is really saying. Now if only we could get that, this thread long ago would have been rid of his nonsensical postings.
