Great point, Jim.

Today we have a much different situation than we did in the last go around. I was just thinking about that I listened to reports of India's $2,000 car, and soon to be released, $20 laptop computer.

jim, excellent point not only was the industrial base intact but greatly augmented - for example think of all the machine tools manufactured for the war effort.
