It's broken beyond reset, can't just press it. You'll get civil war and total devastation instead of starting over because there is no real economy. The idea is to drag it on over time until the economy catches up. Bad two decades? Just kidding. US economy needs restructuring, and such things don't happen overnight. It took decades to blow financial twin bubbles and to deplete US manufacturing base. Hopefully, it will not take decades to get it back. The attempt is to stop the acute financial crisis now.
