I bridle when I read theories that Gore made it all up (like he created the internet,LOL!)or that he's personally getting rich from it as some sort of nefarious plot.

why nefarious? why not just opportunistic? There's pretty good evidence that Gore is trying to make a buck off the whole global warming hysteria. I've posted links to the company that he is on the board of (and compensated by and owns shares of). It's the same company that he bought carbon credits from to offset his own (excessive) carbon footprint.

I thought the accusations that we went to war in Iraq so Cheney could benefit monetarily from his association with Halliburton were much more offensive.

The problem I have is in the big picture we are insignificant. Thinking man is causing the planet to heat up when in fact it's been cooling since 98 is laughable IMO. Now if we want to worry about something I would worry about global cooling. The sun has 0 spot activity going and I and many scientists think that is what drives the earths temperature. If we heat up 5 degrees we are growing corn in Canada and golfing year round in WI. If we cool 5 degrees North America is covered under a sheet of ice. I find that a far bigger thing to fear and it would be decidedly bad for the market:)
