Unincorporated businesses are the smallest of the small businesses, and are also those that are unlikely to be around for long. This would include most professional artists and Mary Kaye sales people (many of whom are only there because they expect to get lots of tax writeoff for it), for example.

I'm not sure what their political leanings would be. But I do agree that schedule C filers tend to push the limits more than any other. But that's more because there is likely to be more flexibility to cheat on a schedule C.

For example, this is how Geithner cheated -- he reported Schedule C income but didn't report SE income with it, which you have to do.
