Yes, global cooling is very distinct possibility. It's surprising you do not read more about this possibility in the media.

Yes, Coxe and others note the lack of sunspots, but the statistical evidence is ok, not overly compelling. Likewise the comments made on the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) impact on climate. Just not enough concrete evidence to support or not support these theories, IMO.

One thing for sure, the world usually has periodic unfavorable weather conditions about once every 10 years throughout history. By contrast, the world currently has had favorable weather conditions for growing crops for the past 20 years. World is overdue for unfavorable weather conditions, whether caused by PDO, sunspots, or some other factor...
