"Sarah hobnobs with those elitists she so criticized during the campaign at the dinner,"

Oh... I wouldn't be so hard on her for the dinner.

It was a comedy event (of long standing in Washington), and she was taking the opportunity to work the room like any good pol would.

"then puts aside her Maverick credentials and does what real pols do....get something for their states."

I would say "real Governors".

"It's hard to be a Maverick when you have to get something done...."

(Someone might want to remind the current Governor of South Carolina - he of the 'I might not let my State accept any of the stimulus money' quote, and he who was just over-ridden by his legislature for trying to 'turn down' the automatic federal extension of unemployment benefits to his State, extended because of their soaring unemployment... that the voters of his State are watching. He might be crafting some sort of national political career for himself... but it seems unlikely that he will ever be able to run for anything in South Carolina any more. Kinda like an Al Gore getting rejected by TN. :-)
