Obama might be willing to take on Republican congressman, but Democratic congressmen? Ay there's the rub.

Not just the partisan factor, but also the time factor. Since this is a very complex bill that is seen as being something that needs to be rushed through, its hard to get a "clean bill" by almost anyone's opinion of what that term would mean.

I think I have heard someone say that Obama has privately told them to get that stuff out of there. It amounts to about 1% out of the total stimulus package.

Obama is really good at explaining things. He was on all three major network newscasts tonight explaining and answering questions about the objectives and the content of the stimulus package.

How did George W. Bush ever get away with being President of the United States? Did he ever have unscripted moments where he had to answer reporters questions?

I think the whole Presidency thing has now changed. You can't be as unprepared as George W. Bush and still be President.
