As the US return to its natural size it becomes more comparable with other countries. That because the economy will become more like the rest of the world.

Therefore, car sales for a saturated market of 300 million, cannot be higher than a emerging market of 1.3 billion.

Granted that there are structural differences between the two countries as level of income and cultural aspects, as illsutrated by the suburbs in the US requiring more car per 1.000 persons than a emerging market cityscape.

Say China sells 10 million or a market of 1.3 billion, the US would be 1/2 of that. Therefore there's potential to return to a lower natural size.
