As your links show, those grants were previously made available to local and state government. Not to private groups of the ACORN ilk.

Quite a difference. Smacks of political payoff.

Often that would be a pretty good idea. If something would probably be a problem then you don't want to vote for it.

Of course it depends on what the problem is, and also what the benefits of the bill might be.

For those who think the stimulus is an outstanding idea, and/or necessary to avoid economic collapse, and whole also think this specific alleged problem is no big deal than there is no good point in scraping the bill for this maybe.

For those who think it is at least a moderate problem, and who also are skeptical about other aspects of the stimulus bill (or perhaps the whole idea behind it), would obviously come to a different conclusion.
