The burqa comment was perhaps in bad taste. In ancient Greece and the old testament (Esther) the queen at a banquet would be displayed naked to invited guests to show her beauty. There was probably nothing vulgar or pornographic about it. In the old testament prostitutes were required to operate in public with veils on. In some Arab countries women wear veils I suppose because of their jealous husbands or religious convictions.

I was in Tunisia and Algeria not too long ago and most women wore jeans and pants like in western countries. I saw a few burqas but not a lot. I saw more nuns in Mexico last week in full regalia than burqas in North Africa.
