Henry,

LGND stock's behavior is quite puzzling given the announced deal with LLY. I am hoping that the mystery compound that LGND is going to select from LLY is what the market is holding out for. Out of everything in the deal with LLY, that item is the most puzzling because it is not well quantified. Is it worth millions in which case the dollar amount of the deal isn't fully reflecting it, or is it going to cost LGND millions to take it to market in which case the market may be viewing it as an asset with an attached liability? When that compound is announced or at least addressed more fully by Robinson, the market should react. Hopefully it is a positive reaction and we don't have to wait too long for it. I'm glad that there is a 90 day time limit on it.

Long LGND,

Henry. I hate to say this.... But, after today's action on LGND, I think that we will need to prepare a new subject entitled: Ligand (LGND) Breakout 1998

OFF TOPIC: Henry, do you have any thoughts on Pharmacyclics (PCYC) in this
area? They are working on things for cancer phototherapy (in Phase
II I believe) and atherosclerosis, among others.

Henry, how did LGND get in the Canadian PHOTOFRIN business? I read through some of the recent SI QLTIF posts and its looks like PHOTOFRIN has or is soon likely to have FDA approval for early stage lung CA, correct? Has potential application for other CAs as well. What's the status of this therapy in Canada? I'm not a paid subscriber to TSC, (yet) so I didn't read the article you referenced.
