This rule doesn't apply. It's for someone who thinks he's out and starts trotting off the field. If a guy makes a crazy arc, he's ok as long as his next move is directly to a base. It's just that if your actions take you out of the basepaths, you lose the ability to use the wider latitude it gives you to avoid a tag.
