VANE Minerals soars on US drilling results
Mon Feb 2, 2009 2:32pm GMT

Shares in mineral explorer and producer VANE Minerals (VML.L) jump more than 22 percent after the company announces exploration results from its uranium projects located in Arizona and Utah, which broker Ambrian describes as encouraging.

"We remain bullish on both the uranium and nuclear power sectors," Ambrian says in a note.

"In the longer term we see the construction of new nuclear power stations being necessary for countries to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as ensuring security of energy supply," says the broker.

"Any new construction will result in an increase in demand for mined uranium, which is currently constrained due to a lack of new projects coming onstream," says Ambrian, which has a "speculative buy" rating on the company.
