It is so seductive to listen to them say "pouring money into the situation does not solve the problem".

Reasonable more than seductive. The tempting/seductive position, is just to believe that a ton of government spending can solve almost all problems. Its esp. seductive if your a politician and spending more money means you get to make more of the decisions about what happens in the country.
