I'm writing an umpires quiz and learning new stuff as I go. Here's a question I just wrote. See if you know the correct answer:

38. One out, bases loaded. Batter hits a towering fly to center that the center fielder leaps for and catches, falls over the fence to the ground but retains control of the ball. He then throws the ball to the second baseman who tags the runner, who had tagged up from first, before any runner crosses the plate. The proper call is:
A. Grand slam, because the fielder ended up on the other side of the fence, which is dead ball territory, with the ball
B. Double-play, no run scores, because the catch was legal and the out at second was made before the run scored
C. Batter is out, ball is dead, no runs may score
D. Batter is out, ball is dead, run scores as everyone is allowed to advance one base
