A simple majority is not a mandate and the change candidate hizself said he'd reach across the aisle - not business as usual.

Republicans lost the election. Why should they be able to dictate the legislation?

This isn't about dictating. This is about doing what's responsible and what is known to work. What are you saying anyway, now that the dems are in the majority they don't have to respect our pluracracy? So now, they can become, dare I say it, DICTATORS?

Obama has a mandate for change.

Yeah, change the way they do business in DC, (which he's failed to do)..... He DOES NOT have a mandate to turn the US into Great Britain!! And he doesn't have a mandate to hand out money to all the left wing organizations that helped him get elected.

Bush got approx 51% of the popular vote but you said he had no mandate...so how does Obama's 53% of the popular vote indicate a mandate...?

Kenneth

We have been through the mandate business before on this thread.

No mandate----Obama won the popular vote by slightly less than 53%.

In America, a President is elected to serve the people not to rule the people----unless you believe in dictators.
