ngd.to - no scepticism from me on New Gold, other than the very short term and relative only to its A-wts, i'm sold on the thing ... it's just that it's had a good little run, and now is around the three-loonie margin level, usually stocks falter somewhat around there, maybe run a little higher for a day or two, then at one close they leave it bid 2.99 or lower, which destroys its margin value for all who bought it that way, so stock comes gushing out to 2.60ish the next morning ... this happens with so many that have come from far below in short order, it would be surprising to see anything else

Another reason i sold common was that i had the ngd.to, and am getting interested in being short the US dollar against the loonie ... holding US listings is one way for canucks to do this, if you leave the buy power in your E [loonie-denominated] account our brokers here will let it count against a debit in your F [USD-denominated] acct ... takes no buy power to do this, uses no excess margin, you just have to pay the interest differential, which right now is minimal ... so if i buy the common back, and that's quite possible, i'll almost certainly buy it on the US side ... imho the loonie is going to tank in real terms, but not quite to the extent the usd will, and if/when oil starts turning up, we'll be back at parity, which is better than a twenty per cent gain from here - using no buy power, strictly OPM, gotta love it

For every share of common i had i still have over eleven ngd.wt.a, which is the main play imho, so am well exposed to upside ... managing accounts for other family members, every one has ngd.wt.a in it, and every one of mine too ... i expect these to be in the money well inside of five years, and the strike is 15.00, so how is that for bullish ... but right here and now the stock could use a rest - how is that for anti-jinx -g-

Caught your post on the analysis thread, about Schulich having 12% of the company, doesn't sound right ... INKresearch shows he and Lassonde as holding 6m each, which doesn't sound right either, didn't Schulich buy more than 6m last summer, and had some before that? ... hmm dunno, anyway 12% would be 25m shs, don't think that's the case

Those two and Telfer have proven abilities to build businesses and promote their shares to the moon, so are a major part of the attraction to me ... Sweeney comes highly regarded in hands-on mining too apparently, and several of the Metallica people were obviously doing something right

You're doing well on ngd, Tommaso, in at the bottom last fall, perfect ... and you're subject to the US tax regs on short- vs. long-term holding, were i in your position i'd likely just sit on it too ... compelled to play with the little buy-sell buttons though, plus there are at least a dozen other companies that imho have comparable upside as well, it's a small sector but with much diversity within it
