The limited number of constitutional amendments in our lifetime illustrates how well the Founding Fathers entrenched a system of balanced interests that is very hard to change. What we do with government is different from what Madison knew, but I'd guess that the underlying structure won't change. Now that we aren't looking at a Supreme Court that would lock us all into original-intentland so blindly, the gradual evolution will probably continue. I'm just not that entranced with the sausagemaking process day to day and week to week. But that's why I chose never to go into electoral or domestic politics.
