LOL, no one said it was gonna be easy. Just that it would have to be done before real (not debt-based) growth can resume.

And I agree that with illiquid instruments like CDS's there's a bias among speculators to buy the instrument rather than sell it. Having unlimited risk in an illiquid investment is a sure way to bankruptcy eventually. Taleb has made this point very eloquently.

Wouldn't that promote sound lending practices? The fractional reserve system has always seemed like a Ponzi scheme to me.
