You guys are getting kinda harsh this morning, LOL. An alternate theory is that the Republicans were left with a major leadership and identity void after their election train wreck last November; now they are flailing around looking for a message and a role in a supercharged atmosphere. Their clumsy leadership (matched on the other side of the aisle by Reid and Pelosi, IMHO) is not helping.

Politics inside the Beltway is going to be messy until everyone figures out where they stand and settles down into new roles.

JMHO too.

This goes beyond messy. Their lust for power knows no end and has no limit.

Leave it to Dale to come up with an interesting thought provoking comment.

I think the "center" is still up for grabs. That the republicans got as many votes as they did in the last election suggest that there are an awful lot of people still not willing to trust governing to democrats - even after the mess Bush created.

The ball is now in democrats court, they lead with wisdom on what the "center" wants they can govern for a long time. They return to left liberal governing and the "center" will be up for grabs. It then will be up to republicans to adapt policies that can regain their lost sheep. Most important is for republicans is to NOT return to the Sarah Palins.

I think the social engineering in the stimulus plan was a mistake by Obama. Not because it isn't right or needed - only that most people don't think of it as stimulative, HOWEVER, Obama is the fastest study I have ever seen in politics. I'm guessing next time he will achieve the high ground from a public relations point of view.

Awesome perspective, mix in the need for the cable networks and the radio talk show hosts for controversy to attract viewers. Surprisingly you get controversy.
