Its really wild when you have to incent buyers of foreclosed and depressed homes, selling at a song, with a 15k upfront govt check for the deposit.

Don't forget the government plan to increase home ownership by lifting lending requirements (regulations) - so that anyone could qualify.

A tiny portion of the problem. It was the money center banks making a fast buck on the securitized sub-primes with phony insurance (CDS) that did us in. That's where the volume was.
