Surprised Kate didn't mention in her article about "Dark Days for Green Energy" the fact that a barrel of oil has fallen from $145/bbl to $30/bbl. Coal has likewise fallen quite a bit.

Alternative energy has never to my knowledge performed well as an investment during periods when traditional energy was performing poorly.

Fortunately the NY Times is now beginning to experiment with reader comments to its articles. Previously you had to hope the writer had her own blog, which is true in Kate's case. greeninc.blogs.nytimes.com
