In our markets - it only takes the sense that the bottom has been reached. Did you see the markets rise on word of a "bad bank" plan yesterday?

Forget the markets, we're talking about the economy. One day in the markets is nothing.

Clearing the bad debt which is a drag on everything should be job #1.

The bad debt is a symptom of deflating assets. If assets go up in value the bad debt goes away (the same as it was created by declining assets). You 'clear' the bad debt and if assets keep declining all you get is more bad debt that needs to be 'cleared'. Eventually the government owns everything.

The only way out is to increase economic activity, and with it demand.
