So you're saying the Pub-Dem Pork was bad and got us into this situation so throwing on more pure Dem Pork will solve the problem?
I think the problem is that the country went to the Dems to solve the problem when what we need was to go more fiscally conservative.

RW, > As I said before, it looks like the government is working the way it's supposed to, with (albeit ugly) compromise. The center seems to be winning.

Hard to say when the "center" is tough to nail down. If both the extreme left and the extreme right are equally pissed, that's one thing, but "center" these days means only meeting Pelosi and Reid halfway and calling that "concessions to the right."

But WTHDIK? I'm an advocate for doing nothing, but politically that will never fly, and we live in a political world.

> One thing for sure is the Reps were the biggest porker congress in history, so the way this is unfolding seems like a huge improvement.

One of the worst things about Bush and the GOP Congress was their runaway spending. Among other things like the exploding debt, it gives the Democrats a complete pass on these things.

Best thing is to salvage the economy now and put the socialist campaign promises on the back burner. If he didn't want the pork, he should craft the bill, not let the porkers in Congress do it.

As I said before, it looks like the government is working the way it's supposed to, with (albeit ugly) compromise. The center seems to be winning. This is very unlike the Bush rubber stamp congress.

And the most difficult stage in the process has yet to come. Assuming the Senate passes their version of the bill, both Senate and House bills go to a conference made up of both House and Senate members. Its at this point the differences are wheedled down. Its also at this point when the White House gets directly involved. This is when the real tweaking and fine tuning will occur. At the end, the bill should be a nice stimulus package.

Yeah, but the center could prove absolutely worthless in this case.
