Clintons tax increase occurred at a time I was living overseas and had the 70K expat exemption and I was making a small fortune in the stock market in unrealized gains. I changed my state residence to avoid paying either oregon or california cap gains - worked out well. As for rooting for sides - in this crises pelosi started it by simply doing what she wanted - she's a vindictive bitch. Obama in his wisdom should have seen that coming - if he really wanted something non-partisan - or perhaps he thinks it'll get fixed in the senate and ramming it through the house was ok if it got passed quickly.
