The idea of anyone ensuring equality of outcomes is ridiculous. It is not going to happen. It cannot happen. I agree, but its still a powerful idea. It can't just be ignored, it has to be recognized and dealt with. And then you are not going to utterly defeat it, its going to keep coming back, even if you beat it back for a time. It would be nice if it was no more popular than the belief that the world is flat and carried on the backs of giant elephants, but unfortunately its actually taken seriously by some, and others who might not consciously take it seriously, but react emotionally to any move away from the idea as being unfair.
