I took direct action. My view is that the government should either allow all of these employee organizations or none at all. GLOBE was awarded sanction, but ACROSS had to go to court to procure its approval. There is no excuse for this.Dear Congresswoman McMorris-Rodgers: Thank you for your principle-based representation of our interests. I am a retired Federal Employee and a member of ACROSS--Association of Christians Reaching Out in Service and Support. This organization is a Recognized Employee Organization that fought in court for two years during the Clinton Administration to gain recognition. The Gay Lesbian Or Bisexual Employees applied for and received official sanction almost overnight. The prejudice and bias demonstrated by this disparity gives cause for alarm once again. The Obama Administration is now gathering information on REOs, as evidenced by the following communication I received through the ACROSS network. Presumably, the Obama administration is reviewing whether some REOs should have their sanction revoked. The only fair result is that all are permitted to continue under established guidelines that have been in force for ten years, or none at all. Excerpted: Dear Ms. Ho: I am a retired federal employee, and a member of ACROSS, Association of Christians Reaching Out in Service and Support -- a Recognized Employee Organization that fought for two years in court to get its recognition during the Clinton Administration. I am very alarmed at the following communication from your office, because it appears to be a precursor to revoking the recognition for which ACROSS fought, while other REOs, such as GLOBE Gay Lesbian Or Bisexual Employees applied for and were granted recognition almost overnight. The disparity we experienced during the Clinton Administration MUST NOT be repeated in the Obama Administration. Be advised that I have written my congresswoman about this issue and asked her to oppose any such revocation. Sincerely, Dear REO Presidents, This is a request that needs your quick response.
