2/13/09 update
Whether the week was jinxed by a Friday the 13th occurrence or by the incantations of Treasury Secretary Geithner, we'll never know for sure. But investors seemed in a fearful mood.
At Friday's close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was down -2.37% CYTD, or "Contest Year To Date" (vs. up 1.28% CYTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Biotech Index had a rough week as well, closing up 5.87% CYTD (vs. up 7.75% CYTD a week ago). And the Contest median did no better, closing up 4.26% CYTD (vs. up 8.02% CYTD a week ago).
With a slight shift in order, the same three portfolios continued the battle for first place. At this week's close, the CYTD percentages were: GHMM up 21.91%, ENZYME up 21.04% and SCARAM up 18.55%.
At Friday's close, 23 of the 32 Contest portfolios were in the black and 14 of the 32 beat the NBI.
Enjoy the President's Day weekend folks!
