Grounding a ship is a career ending move.

Except for Chester Nimitz!

We were behind another sub, perhaps a half mile back that made a left turn in front of a I believe Turkish freighter. I think the sub was perhaps the Baton Rouge. It was a 688 boat I remember that. Anyhow after they separated the boat turned to head back to the tender and we followed in case they needed assistance. They pulled up and tied up and the brow came down and the captain made his way up the brow and he had already been relieved.

I can't remember what the excuse was but I was on look out and when they started to turn I asked our OOD WTF is that clown doing and about 20 seconds later, boom.

What about the Admiral who was visiting? Is he going to lose his career too?
