50% down is today's up. Look at BofA. Everything is about 50% off. I think roots of current debacle lie with greenspan, clinton, rubin et al who all thought they could avoid the rules of the road in one way or another. Then President stupid arrives and the problem(s) is ignored. In defense of bush, i am not sure anyone else would have gotten it but the failure to address spending in his second term just fanned the flames. Yes there is plenty of blame to go around and Bush didnt cause this, nor did tax cuts (for the wealthy) but you can certainly add the economy to iraq war and katrina as the major decomplishments of his admin.

Well, it is finally great to hear a liberal admit that Bush didn't cause it.

He didn't cause it (he didn't invent CDS's) but he didn't prevent it. And the right ideology certainly permitted it to happen.
