Brush Creek Mining Adds to its Professional Staff BusinessWire, Friday, October 24, 1997 at 11:32 GRASS VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 24, 1997--Brush Creek Mining and Development Co. Inc. (NASDAQ:BCMD) today announced that it recently hired a new mine superintendent, geologist, and mill superintendent as well as an additional mining engineer. The new mine superintendent is Stan Griffith. Much of his 30-year mining career was spent in underground vein deposits similar to the Alleghany-Downieville mining district where Brush Creek's properties are located. He ran his own company, Griffith Exploration, and also worked for Lion Trails Mining, among others. Arthur Smith, Brush Creek's new geologist, is a 1994 graduate of the Colorado School of Mines. There, he earned a master's degree in geology. He is credited with discovering a base metal deposit and a smaller gold deposit in the Russell Gulch district of Colorado. He has 20 years of experience in mining. Smith has spent time with Western States Mining. Vern Shepherd is the company's new mill superintendent. He began his mining career in 1969. In addition to designing and constructing several mill circuits, he has worked as a mine superintendent and in high levels of mining management. Shepherd worked for a number of companies during his career including Hecla. Bill Watters, a mining engineer who graduated from the Mackey School of Mines in 1978 and spent the last four years in the Motherlode district mostly with Siskon gold, joins Odin Strandberg, a mining engineer with over 30 years of experience who is currently employed by the company. As previously announced, William Rohtert, a geologist with considerable expertise in unusual diamond occurrences, has recently joined the company as a consultant. He will assist Brush Creek with its potentially diamondiferous land holdings near LaPorte, Calif. James S.
