Middle Class is a demographic phenomenon. It expands as the demographic window opens (the majority of the population is between 25 and 49 years old) and the pyramid has a bulge in the waist.

It contracts when the majority of the population is older, That is the pyramid looks as if upside down.

Middle Class is non existent as when the pyramid is standing with a wide base and a tiny top. That is the majority of the population is below 25 years of age.

That means resources consumed by Europeans and othe rolder countries population will be tranferred wiot emerging markets.

The finacial crisis is a result of the lack of perception of demographic phenomenon. OECD tried to artificially keep its standing even as population is going down.
