I don't think I've changed the subject. I was using the Presidential elections as the historical indicator of the nation's leanings. Whether that is valid criteria for the Nation currently is a good question.

Perhaps I should have said, "Recently we have been a center/right country."

The poll is certainly good evidence for your position as a starting point. I'm not sure I'm up to doing the research to punch holes in it. One debatable point would be how much of the registration is solid Democrat or "swing" vote. I will concede that currently at this moment it may not be a center/right, but as you said center/center with maybe a little bit of left stuck in there.

But I stick to my contention, and it is my opinion only, that Obama has a fragile coalition put together by winning over those not driven by ideology, but who were solution oriented.
