Geithner’s approach is like the incompetent physician who treats symptoms rather than working patient up to make a definitive diagnosis. Using that analogy these bailouts are like giving a patient pain with a severe headache and nausea painkillers following head trauma pain rather than getting CT scan or an MRI.

Our economic crisis is the result of bad policies like globalization, illegal immigration, defining ourselves as a consumer rather than a savings and investment society, an utter lack of fiscal discipline, and multiple budget busting unnecessary and unwinable wars. Like the head injury patient with severe subdural bleeding, we need immediate policy surgery rather than bailout analgesics.
