RtS, I think this is a pretty big issue.

<<It remains to be seen what reaction we will get to the latest bailout from the government.>>

I just heard 15 minutes ago as I was driving home(just announced today) that the "Bank Bailout Plan" will not be released tomorrow as stated this past week, but will now be delayed until at least Tuesday. These pieces of news on a daily basis cause all sorts of intra-day movements in the stock market. This "noise" is very hard to see thru to judge longer term stock prices.

<<Obviously the SOX/SMH has been outperforming.>>

This usually is a very good sign because the semi sector(s) usually lead the upswing in stock prices. The "market" knows the semis move up fast and hard prior to a future recovery and "they" want to be in first to ride the "wave". In this case however, that recovery might be further in the future than the "market" thinks. I'm going to post a couple of "doctored" Gottfried charts next that might, or might not, put a little light on that subject.

I still think we are going to be in a trading range for awhile before we know if 11/21 was the "bottom" we were waiting for, and the market gets a clear sense of direction. Already, many of the semi stocks have made nice moves from the 11/21 bottom, and there may be several "rotations" over the next weeks and months.

Like you, I await more clarity!

<<I wait for more clarity>>

Don
