No. From 1929 through 1933, the economy was going down hard, but from 1933 to 1937, there was a nice recovery back to 1929 levels. FDR was convinced at that point that the time had come to balance the budget. He tried, and put the economy down again. Tim and I had a (repetitive) discussion about this a few days ago, one which I don't really want to repeat again.
