I sold the old Royal Typewriter with the ribbon cans on top, I thought to Mike's Second Hand Store. Then about 25 years later in the same store I saw what seemed to be a dead ringer for it, and I was sure it was the same one. How cool to reclaim the typewriter where I wrote all my term papers.

So I had to have it. Paid $25. Boxed it up, and then about ten years later opened it to type envelopes with. But it didn't work. It typed OK, but wouldn't advance to the next line with the carriage return.

So I donated it to a charity as an antique, which it really was. I was sorry that it wouldn't function, because I wanted to use it.

I never have fond feelings about computers I have earned. I bought a Kaypro back in 84.

It ended up as a take-apart project for my daughter's 3rd grade class. It still worked, but was essentially worthless by then.

-Oh yes, and how long did it take YOU to get back your typing skills when you got your computer? It took at least six months for me. It was so slow going, it might as well have been typing I, never did knock the monitor off though...<<GG>>>
