Up until then, that was the fastest I have ever seen a hurricane develop. And it was close to shore when it built up. Now, they build even faster. Yeah Charlie was my wake up call. Bearing right at me for days as a cat 1 or 2 with no call for intensification. Went to a cat 4 in less than an hour, when it was 2 hours away. That's when you get that "aw fuk" feeling in the pit of your stomach. Fortunately Charlie turned away an the last hour. If not Tampa would have been New Orleans.
