By the time Katrina rolled in, Bush had 5 years to fill the department up with incompetents. Which, he did. Now you expect Obama to reverse 8 years of that kind of effort in 3 weeks...

If FEMA is as important as everyone believes why would Obama not have taken these appointments seriously enough to have them lined out on day one? That's the question.

Actually, FEMA did a reasonable job in Katrina given the nature and extent of the disaster, AND given the gross incompetence of Nagin and Blanco. But as usual, the media didn't like it because it was BUSH'S FEMA.

But now that Obama's FEMA has failed so miserably in its first task, it seems the media is pretty forgiving. In fact, you haven't even heard it mentioned that FEMA is MIA in Kentucky.

Is English your first language?

Its pretty clear that what i-node was getting at is that FEMA is not now and has not been intended to be a first responder...that and the usual MSM double standard...

It's not like FEMA needs a cloture proof majority to act. Nor a joint House Senate Reconciliation Committee. Just one decider. No compromises needed.
