Al, > How do you know? I suppose pickens is a crazy old man?

What Pickens wants to do with his billions is his own business. By the way, he tried to get a measure passed in CA that would subsidize alternative energy projects such as his own wind farms, but that failed partly due to the conflict of interest.

The way I see solar and wind energy is this. They are great supplemental sources of energy. Unfortunately they are still rather expensive because the amount of energy they produce isn't all that much. Hence the upfront costs in building them will take many years to recoup.

Should we build more solar and wind farms as part of the "infrastructure" Obama wants? Of course we should. Is that the future? Don't bet on it. Instead, my bets would be on nuclear fission and fusion, but that's VERY long-term.

By the way, you haven't said anything about the sequestration of CO2 or the whole practice of trading "carbon credits," both of which would be essential if you really buy into the global warming craze but a waste of time if you don't.
