To All, The Tudors. The first two seasons have been terrific. I don't subscribe to Showtime, so I see them when the DVDs come out. There are some historical inaccuracies for dramatic effect, but most of it is pretty straight. The scandalous sex scenes are brief, in the dark and too infrequent, IMHO. But where this series does great work is in building character, and, so far, they have been pretty much on target with the way I think these folks were.

One problem, though I don't see how they could do anything about it. Too many major characters are named Thomas. I count at least 9 of them.

To All, Club WPT Review. The World Poker Tour has a "legal in America" poker room up and running at ClubWPT.com. This one is a subscription site and costs $19.95 a month to join. You can play for real money in tournaments with a prize pool of $10 (woo-woo), $20, $50, $100, $500, $1000, $5000, $10,000 and $20,000. There are also tournaments that provide entries to the ClubWPT tv tourney show on Fox Sports. I haven't seen any that provide entry to live World Poker Tour events, but they must have them.

You enter the tourneys by paying with Tournament Points, or TPs. You receive 500 points for signing up and can win more points in on site "cash" games, Sit and go tourneys and can get points if you finish down the list in the money tournaments. There are freeroll tourneys that pay in TPs. I won 500 TPs in my first freeroll. You can enter a $1000 tourney for 400 points.

Positives: 1. No matter how badly you play, you can't lose more than $19.95 a month. This low risk factor attracts a number of players who bet all in with 10/8 unsuited. Love it. 2. There are 1000s of players on site. 3. You can play against Hollywood and poker celebrities, which does nothing for me, but does for others. 4. The tourneys move quickly. Usually, 2/3s of the players are busted before the first 45 minute break. 5. The operating program is very similar to the pre-Cereus one at Ultimate Bet. A wee bit slow (not during the games, but in updating stats), but not bad. 5. The site won't get busted by the morality cops and keep your money.

Negatives: 1, Very few players are paid cash vs. the huge number who enter a cash tourney. Making a living, vs. having fun, on this site, looks like manual labor to me. <G> 2.

2. The higher paying tourneys are rare.

3. All of the higher pay tourneys seem to take place at night.

So, ClubWPT is not like a pay to play site and it's not like an advertising run site. It's kind of a different animal. Nice for players on a budget and those who are afraid of going to jail. And I'm playing the $10,000 and $20,000 tourneys every month. And, I suppose I'll have to earn some points, so I'll be there other times, too.
