Now I can eat two 9 oz bags a week.

I quit eating spinach a couple of decades ago when I found that it impeded the absorption of calcium and caused kidney stones. It's the oxalic acid in the spinach. About six months ago I rediscovered it and dove back in with vigor. I figured that my bones have proven strong enough to risk the spinach. A few months later I had kidney stones, not something one wants to have.

I'm not claiming cause and effect, but I wonder.
