Been there, done that too. I got into buying calls on IBM only after successfully putting it for a while and then getting the thrashing of my life (what went up didn't come back down).

I just bought some Jan115 calls for 1+5/8 but that's just to lower my cost basis which is about 75% higher and to roll out some of the Nov110/105 series I bought after IBM/MSFT had restored faith in the markets, all was rosy, and IBM 110 was just around the corner (turns out that corner is over 4 months long in coming now!).

That's it for my opinion on IBM - we'd be interested to hear how your shorts worked out and how your overall performance fares with big blue, please keep us tuned in.
