we had all agreed not mt mention any names but, as you ask, here are a few in the US.:
dbc.com I think most are members of the gold index.
there are many other great miners,but here is a start

I am not sure what was meant when you were told "we had all agreed not to mention any names," since many previous posts have discussed specific precious metals companies.

When I collect any suggestions I get I will certainly post them for you. All the threads I follow on SI imply active investing rather than theoretical economics. Meantime there are the several responses here to my inquiry.
