Maybe you misread my post?? In it I said even though the one child policy has been lifted and the govt. wants the Chinese family to have more children, the people themselves don't want more than one child. The one child rule was forced on them, but now they have come to prefer it voluntarily. Don't see how the PEW poll contradicts this.

I've read in several different places that central planning in China is very focused on raising the birth rate back to replacement. China is getting ready to inact the mother of all stimulus programs. The dollar amount will equal 20% of their GDP, and most of it will go to infrastructure to build out the interior of the country....roads, rails, airports and bridges, etc.

The conceptual debate is how much of this is wise in the face of a declining population, i.e. what if you build it and nobody comes, lol.
